Malabar Style Pan Fried or Tawa Fried Fish



















Malabar style Pan Fried / Tawa Fried  Fish (A delicious and crispy fish fry. Best with rice / fish curry ..)

Serves: 4

Ingredients

8  thin fish slices / 350 - 400 g (pomfret / Aavoli / nemmeen (seer fish) or any good quality fish

4 tablespoon oil

For the paste:

1 tablespoon red chilli powder

½ teaspoon pepper powder

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

2 tablespoon thick ginger – garlic paste

1 tablespoon vinegar or 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Make a fine and thick paste of above ingredients in a small mixer bowl. Do not add water.

Method

Wash and clean fish pieces. Drain out water completely. Wipe each fish piece with a kitchen towel.

In a bowl, apply this paste evenly on both the sides of each fish pieces. Cover and keep aside for one hour.

Heat 2 tablespoon oil in a flat non stick frying pan on medium heat. Arrange marinated fish pieces and fry on a medium to low heat until golden color and crisp on both the sides. Sprinkle remaining  2 tablespoon oil when turning other side.  Serve with rice / fish curry / boiled tapioca or with challas ( fresh onion salad), lemon wedges ..
